The 2010 Shamrock Festival is less than a week away! Here are a few reminders and updates:
Shamrock Showcase - A list of all accepted participants and their assigned session is now available HERE. If we have not received your check then you have not been accepted.
Shamrock Kid's Clinic - We are hosting a 2-hour instructional clinic on Friday March 12th from 6:30-8:30 for boys and girls age 6-12. The clinic will be held in the coliseum portion of the Roanoke Civic Center while the older players participate in the Shamrock Showcase. We will have 3 courts available so we can separate by age and ability as needed. The cost of the clinic is $25 and all participants will receive a Baden mini-ball at the end of the clinic. To reserve your spot, please e-mail director@shamrockfestival.org with your son or daughter’s name and age. Then mail a check to Shamrock Festival, 3519 Canter Circle, Roanoke, VA 24018. Walk-ins will be accepted if there is room but please register in advance if you can so we can be sure to have enough instructors, equipment, etc.
Free SPARQ Testing by All Sports Promotion - On Friday March 12th, All Sports Promotion will provide free testing for any interested volleyball athletes. This testing will include certified measurements and times for such things as standing reach, approach jump, block jump, and shuttle run. Please take advantage of their special FREE offer at this year's Shamrock Festival. If you are interested please e-mail info@allsportspromotion.com or visit their website allsportspromotion.com. They hope to schedule groups of 6-10 athletes every 15 minutes. Walk-ins will be welcome but to minimize your wait please schedule a time for yourself and/or your teammates. If you are participating in the Shamrock Showcase this is something that could be scheduled before or after your session.
Please keep checking this website for various information updates during the next few weeks. Initial pools and playing locations will be posted here on Thursday March 11th. All questions should be directed to director@shamrockfestival.org. Thanks, -Tamalyn & Mark Tanis
Welcome to the official website of the annual Shamrock Festival volleyball tournament.
Here you will find all of the information you need to ensure that your team and its fans enjoy our tournament.
The 2010 Shamrock Festival will be held March 13-14 in the Roanoke Valley for teams in the 14, 16, and 18 & under age divisions.
As always, teams in the 13, 15, and 17 & under age divisions are encouraged to play-up in the higher age groups.
If we are able to secure facilities, we may offer a small 12’s division too.
The 2009 Shamrock Festival saw 228 teams competing from VA, NC, PA, MD, TN, SC, WV, DE, & NY and included teams from 8 different USAV regions.
Historically, Shamrock has attracted teams from as far north as NY & NJ and as far south as GA & FL.
In addition, we attract dozens of college coaches from all over the East Coast each year… click HERE for a list of schools who recruited at Shamrock
in 2009. We also typically enjoy some very nice post-tournament coverage on prepvolleyball.com.
The Shamrock Festival is the largest nationally-sanctioned USAV tournament held in Virginia and one of the premier volleyball events for
juniors on the East Coast. Follow all of the tournament action on this website with live scoring updates every hour during the tournament.
Registration opens on December 1st and will be handled through AES. Teams will be accepted based on the date of registration and receipt of payment. You are strongly encouraged to register and mail your payment
early as the tournament typically fills up in a matter of days. Hotel reservations will again be coordinated by Tournament Director Tamalyn Tanis,
who asks all teams interested in hotels to please complete a Housing Request Form and send it to us per the instructions on the Hotel Info page of
our website. There is a limited supply of hotel rooms in the area and this process simply helps ensure that large room blocks are not reserved by
teams prior to their acceptance into the tournament. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us anytime.
