  • We are also offering everyone an opportunity to give back to the less fortunate this year. Tournament directors Tamalyn & Mark Tanis have had the privilege of taking mission trips to Nicaragua with Because We Care Ministries. While financial donations are always welcome, we are also asking for NEW or USED SPORTS EQUIPMENT. Old balls of any kind, gloves, bats, shoes, etc. would all be greatly appreciated. Missionary teams use the sports equipment to interact with the children of Nicaragua while the needs of their village (such as food, clothing, & medicine) are temporarily met. You and your club could do a great and wondrous thing by donating any "worn out" sports equipment to this worthy cause. Please stop by the Because We Care Ministries booth at the Roanoke Civic Center to drop off your items, make a tax-deductible contribution, and/or to learn more about this ministry.

Welcome to the official website of the annual Shamrock Festival volleyball tournament. Here you will find all of the information you need to ensure that your team and its fans enjoy our tournament. The 2010 Shamrock Festival will be held March 13-14 in the Roanoke Valley for teams in the 14, 16, and 18 & under age divisions. As always, teams in the 13, 15, and 17 & under age divisions are encouraged to play-up in the higher age groups. If we are able to secure facilities, we may offer a small 12’s division too. The 2009 Shamrock Festival saw 228 teams competing from VA, NC, PA, MD, TN, SC, WV, DE, & NY and included teams from 8 different USAV regions. Historically, Shamrock has attracted teams from as far north as NY & NJ and as far south as GA & FL. In addition, we attract dozens of college coaches from all over the East Coast each year… click HERE for a list of schools who recruited at Shamrock in 2009. We also typically enjoy some very nice post-tournament coverage on prepvolleyball.com.

The Shamrock Festival is the largest nationally-sanctioned USAV tournament held in Virginia and one of the premier volleyball events for juniors on the East Coast. Follow all of the tournament action on this website with live scoring updates every hour during the tournament. Registration opens on December 1st and will be handled through AES. Teams will be accepted based on the date of registration and receipt of payment. You are strongly encouraged to register and mail your payment early as the tournament typically fills up in a matter of days. Hotel reservations will again be coordinated by Tournament Director Tamalyn Tanis, who asks all teams interested in hotels to please complete a Housing Request Form and send it to us per the instructions on the Hotel Info page of our website. There is a limited supply of hotel rooms in the area and this process simply helps ensure that large room blocks are not reserved by teams prior to their acceptance into the tournament. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us anytime.
